Region 4 Rockstars

In February, Region 4 and  ARI Regional Staff from around the state had the opportunity to meet with the education "Rockstar", Dr. Bice! We were able to discuss the great things happening in schools in the UA/UWA region. Dr. Bice shared his excitement about the commitment and dedication of educators across the state of Alabama. During Dr. Bice's conversation with ARI Regional Staff, he shared the increase in graduation rate data this year as well as the ACT scores. He reiterated the commitment of educators staying the course and keeping the focus on standards based instruction and continual improvement! Thank you educators for working diligently and passionately for the students of Alabama!

Marengo County Professional Learning Experience

During the 2013-2014 school year, ALL Marengo County teachers have been involved in professional learning groups focusing on the implementation of the English Language Standards and creating classrooms that are increasingly more student-centered. Every school has hosted a session during the year. A total of four sessions have been held, two per semester.

During each session the teachers plan, implement and reflect on lessons they teach together. This experience has given teachers the opportunity to meet with other teachers across the system to share ideas and begin collaborative teaching and learning conversations on a more regular basis.
